Our Fellowship has been going along for some time now with several important positions unfilled. If you have never held a leadership position before at HUUF, or if it's been a while since you served, please consider giving of your time and talents. We need you! Examples of areas that are in need of help include, but are not limited to, the presidency, hospitality, the newsletter, worship and social justice.
Edwards Street Fellowship Center Food Pantry here in Hattiesburg is in need of funds and food to carry on their work. We have supported them both materially and financially in the past; if you are able to help at this time, please mail your check to them at the address listed here.
HUUF members are helping to fund the education of six disadvantaged children in Freetown, Sierra Leone, through the organization called Network of Disadvantaged Children Charity. NDC is a child rights focused organization working to improve the lives of less privileged children/youth, especially those engaged in or at risk of engaging in child labor. Many of the 28 children now enrolled were affected by the last civil war and are living with foster families, or relatives, which is better than being in orphanages. HUUF has committed to provide support for two years for the families. Betty already delivered some of the money raised on her visit to Sierra Leone in July and spoke about her experience there on September 25. An extra collection was taken up for this important cause on December 11.
