Frequently Asked
Questions
What are HUUF's
goals? Our primary goals are to continue to provide spiritually and ethically
engaging and meaninful services and fellowship for our Beloved Community. Beyond that, we hope
to save enough to be able to share a part-time minister with another
UU fellowship in Mississippi.
How do we spend our money? HUUF’s
budget consists locally of expenses related to the weekly rental of
the Garden Space, weekly childcare, monthly pot luck supplies,
yearly web space rental and the like. As a congregation in
fellowship with the Unitarian Universalist Association, we make a
fair share financial contribution to the UUA and the the Mid-South
District based on the number of members we have. This money is used
to support national Unitarian Universalist work and District work in
the form of workshops and conferences. It also pays for member
subscriptions to the UU magazine.
I'd like to make a volunteer commitment but don’t know
what to volunteer for, what should I do? Check out our
volunteer
page!
I have suggestions for ways to improve
HUUF’s Sunday services and/or service to the community. Who should I
talk to? Feel free to speak with any member of the HUUF Board.
I'd like to make a financial commitment to HUUF, how much
should I pledge? Your financial pledge is your decision.
From a spiritual perspective, your pledge should matter — to both you
and the congregation. Our pledges are the fiscal foundation of HUUF.
From members, we appreciate pledges that at least cover the $74 per
year we send to the Unitarian Universalist national association and
the Mid-South District. Pledges that exceed that amount help us to
meet our goals as a congregation and our community outreach goals,
as well.
